Jurassic Coaching Services provides expert sports coaching to organisations and individuals throughout West Dorset. Passionate, qualified and experienced - delivering high-impact programmes at schools, cricket clubs, and community settings.
Jurassic Coaching Services was founded in 2024 by Head Coach Ross Baker, with a vision to deliver quality, accessible coaching across the West Dorset region.
Our name is a proud nod to the iconic Jurassic Coast - replacing “Coast” with “Coaching” to reflect exactly who we are and where we work. All of our programmes take place in West Dorset, with the stunning backdrop of one of England's most celebrated coastlines.
While cricket is our main sport, we deliver a wide range of coaching throughout the year - keeping young people active, engaged, and developing valuable life skills in every season.
Ross Baker is the driving force behind Jurassic Coaching Services. With a wealth of experience coaching at all levels - from junior grassroots through to county age group - Ross brings an infectious enthusiasm and deep technical knowledge to every session he leads.
Alongside Ross, our team of qualified, passionate coaches share the same dedication to delivering high-impact programmes that make a genuine difference to participants of all ages and abilities.

Structured, curriculum-aligned PE lessons delivered at primary schools across West Dorset. Our coaches bring energy, expertise and a genuine love of sport into every classroom setting.
Fun, engaging clubs that keep children active beyond the classroom. We run both lunch-time and after-school sessions, catering for all abilities and interests.
JCS Ltd organises and runs a Primary School Cricket Tournament held at Beaminster CC, bringing together all of the schools we work with in a fantastic community event.
When cricket season ends, we keep the momentum going. Our winter programme brings a fantastic variety of sports to keep children active all year round.

On 28th June 2025, Beaminster Cricket Club hosted a fixture against Shillingstone CC that nobody in West Dorset will forget. Lining up for the visitors was one of the all-time greats of the game - Sri Lankan legend Kumar Sangakkara - and Jurassic Coaching Services was right at the heart of the day, helping bring this remarkable occasion to our community.
Sangakkara played most of his international career as a wicket-keeper-batter and is widely regarded as one of the greatest wicket-keeper-batters in cricket history. His 38 Test centuries and 25 ODI centuries are both records for a wicket-keeper.
Sangakkara delivered exactly the kind of innings the crowd had hoped to witness, stroking a stylish 82 from 59 balls with 14 boundaries at a strike rate of 138.98 before finally being caught and bowled by Richard Runyard. For our juniors, club members and the hundreds who turned out to watch, it was a once-in-a-lifetime chance to see a true icon of world cricket up close.
To see a player of Kumar's stature pull on the whites at Beaminster - and to share the experience with our juniors and club members - was a truly special day for West Dorset cricket.
